The Wisconsin School for the Deaf Firebirds Athletics Program participates in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA). WSD is a member of the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association (NDIAA). WSD fields Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Track & Field and Special Olympics athletics teams. 

Our conference is the Indian Trials Conference (ITC). Fourteen schools participate in boys and girls sports. In football, WSD is a member of the Great Plains Schools for the Deaf (GPSD) Conference.

We are also members of the Great Plains Schools for the Deaf (GPSD) and participate in GPSD volleyball, basketball & cheerleading, track & field and triahalon tournaments.  We were originally members of the Central States Association for the Deaf (CSSD).

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) requires all students participating in interscholastic athletics to have a current sports physical and parental permission on file at school before trying out for a team. Additional information regarding eligibility can be found on the FORMS tab on the left column.

The WSD Special Olympics teams are member of Wisconsin Special Olympics Association and participate in state bowling, basketball and track & field Championships. 

The schedule for athletic events may changes. Please call or email to confirm the schedule before you come to an athletic event.
